Andy Green unveils Bloodhound, the supersonic car

Andy Green, holder of the world land speed record, who is planning to drive Bloodhoud at more than 1,000mph has unveiled a full-scale model of the vehicle.

The model was on display at this year's Farnborough International Air Show, and is a 1:1 replica of the 12.8m-long (42ft) Bloodhound SuperSonic Car (SSC), the result of three years of aerodynamic study.  Construction of the real vehicle will begin in the first quarter of 2011.

Assuming no major issues arise from runway tests, Bloodhound will be shipped straight to a dried up lakebed known as Hakskeen Pan, in the Northern Cape of South Africa, to begin its assault on the world land speed record.
