Sir David Reid is Chairman of Intertek Group plc, a global quality and safety services group that is listed on the London Stock Exchange in the FTSE 100, Support Services sector and has a network of over 30,000 employees in over 100 countries. Intertek helps many of the world's most well known brands and companies in a wide range of industries to develop the quality, safety, environmental and social impact of their products and processes. He was appointed to the Board in December 2011 and became Chairman in January 2012.
Sir David retired as Non-Executive Chairman of Tesco PLC in November 2011 after serving in that role since April 2004. Prior to that, he served as their Deputy Chairman with responsibility for Business Development, Strategic Planning and the International Operations in Central Europe, Asia and the Republic of Ireland, since 1996. He had served as an Executive on the Tesco Board since 1985.
Sir David is currently the Senior Non-Executive Director of Reed Elsevier Group PLC. In 2008 he was appointed Chairman of the charity Whizz-Kidz which provides mobility equipment for disabled children.
He was formerly Chairman of Kwik-Fit Group Ltd, Non-Executive Director at Greenalls Group plc (now De Vere Group), Legal & General Group Plc and Westbury plc. He is the former President of the food industry trade association, IGD.
In November 2010, Sir David was appointed one of Prime Minister David Cameron’s Business Ambassadors.
