Philip Emeagwali

Philip Emeagwali (born in Nigeria, Africa in 1954) is a mathematician and computer scientist. Africa. President Bill Clinton called him 'one of the great minds of the Information Age' and CNN described him as 'a Father of the Internet'.

Philip invented an international network that was similar to, but predated that, of the Internet, discovered mathematical equations that enable the petroleum industry to recover more oil, and won the 1989 Gordon Bell Prize (computation's Nobel prize) for inventing a formula that lets computers perform the fastest computations; work that led to the reinvention of supercomputers.

Philip Emeagwali was ranked a history’s 35th greatest person of African descent in the New African Publication, with Nelson Mandela ranked #1 and Martin Luther King Jr. as #7. He was also inducted into the gallery of history's 70 greatest black achievers.
